General information

About the POP Index - Teachers

The POP Index was developed as a student resource in the pedagogical context of the Personal Orientation Project (POP). This online catalogue facilitates students’ searching and sharing of digital resources for their career exploration processes.

Students can use the POP Index to do the following: explore different fields of interest by trying out actual work tasks virtually, using Experiential Tools; take a tour of work sites or educational institutions, or listen to workers and see them in action, using the Virtual Visits and Key People Tools; and discover opportunities for career days, open house activities, etc., using Other Tools. The General Career Exploration Tools will help students who wish to find out about a wide variety of careers.

As comprehensive as the POP Index is, it is not meant to be the only resource that students use in their career explorations. Students should seek out other resources (documentation, virtual or human resources) to enrich their career exploration processes. It is not the purpose of the POP Index to provide links to detailed descriptions of jobs, occupations or careers, or to websites providing detailed descriptions of educational programs, etc.

The POP Index can also be used in conjunction with the Exploration of Vocational Training and the Entrepreneurship programs. The Vocational Training Sectors section allows students to search for exploration tools by vocational training sector. Exploration tools related to entrepreneurship have also been added.

The POP Index is an educational application offering a discussion forum, an aggregator, blogs and other digital resources. Instructions are provided for each of these online resources.
