Sharpen your quills and enter the CBC's Shakespeare Selfie Student Writing Challenge by April 27, 2018!

This writing competition “challenges students to write a soliloquy or monologue in the voice of a Shakespearean character based on a prominent news, pop culture or current affairs event from the last year (April 2017 to April 2018).”

Submissions should be 200 to 400 words (not including the title). The entries will be judged in two categories: grades 7 to 9 and grades 10 to 12.

You can watch four videos about Shakespeare, the writing craft and current affairs (and a performance of one of last year's winning entries).

You may submit your entry from April 6 to April 27, 2018, using this online form.

Scroll down to the bottom of the contest page to read the works of 2017 winners and finalists.
